Born in London in 1964, Chris Hipkiss left school at the age of 16 to become an apprentice with his father’s joinery firm and around this time he began to draw. His more recent works, mainly large in scale, depict landscapes or cityscapes with intricate towers, buildings, trees and figures that celebrate both natural and man-made beauty. Hipkiss has exhibited widely in Europe and America. England & Co held two solo exhibitions of his visionary drawings, in 2000 and 2002. He was also included in the Gallery exhibitions Outsiders & Co in 1996 and Obsessive Visions in 2001.
